ecoSUB Advisory Board

Our team at ecoSUB Robotics recognise that although they share a deep understanding of the technology and the three main target user groups for the vehicles, they are by no means expert in them all, our Advisory Board helps ensure that we remain focused and on the right track, as well as providing industry insights into what the users groups around the World may need in the future.

The board comprises acknowledged leaders in their fields to counsel the company on the opportunities for maximising the impact of its technologies globally.  Each member of the Advisory Board have long been advocates of the use of small, agile autonomous systems in their respective fields and ecoSUB in particular.  Their decades of real world experience and vision is a significant asset available to the ecoSUB team.  Of particular importance is an understanding of how micro AUV technology fits into the wider use of undersea autonomy in general.

Steve Hall
Science

Steve Hall has been part of the marine science, technology & policy community for over 30 years, including duties as manager of the first NERC Autosub Science Missions programme 1997-2002, writing policy papers on behalf of the National Oceanography Centre on a wide range of subjects, acting as tsunami warning focal point for the UK’s fourteen overseas territories and leading the UK delegation to UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission where he was elected as Group 1 Vice Chair before joining the staff of the Society for Underwater Technology as CEO between 2017 and the end of 2020. He started the popular Underwater Technology Podcast series which has become established as a leading international weekly bulletin in the field.

Throughout this period Steve has been a champion of sustained ocean observing using marine autonomous systems, and continues to work on operational, legal and policy aspects of civilian and military AUV use within the international ocean science and policy community.

Steve currently works as CEO of Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum and Programme Director of Marine Energy Wales, and is a Fellow of IMarEST & SUT, a Chartered Marine Scientist and member the Marine Technology Society where he has been active in collaborating with IMarEST & SUT to further develop the Chartered Marine Technologist programme. As one of the architects of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for sustainable development he looks forward to seeing how ecoSUB can expand the uptake of robotic systems by the oceanographic community.
