Using cutting-edge AI technology and sonar data from global partners, WWF can detect and locate ghost nets - abandoned fishing gear that threatens the marine ecosystem. ecoSUB AUV users with side scan sonar systems can contribute to the WWF GhostNetZero project by uploading any sonar data they collect to the WWF sonar map. Using advanced AI technology, GhostNetZero.ai analyses the collected sonar data to identify specific locations where ghost nets are likely to be found. This enables the recovery of these abandoned nets and helps to rid our oceans of hazardous waste. Uploading data reveals the true scale of the ghost net problem. While WWF don't directly handle removal, they empower existing projects dedicated to this task. |
